UT'S ALUMNI OF ATLANTA WEBSITE GETS NEW LOOK
ATLANTA-The University of Tennessee National Alumni
Association (UTNAA) of Atlanta has recently launched a newly designed
website to help bring together the many UT graduates living in the
Atlanta area. Currently, the Atlanta chapter of UTNAA boasts the
largest concentration of UT graduates outside of the state of Tennessee
and brings the most dollars back annually to the university through
charitable contributions. Recently, the ATL chapter also received
the prestigious Gold Seal Award.
Randy MacNeill, former president of the Board of Directors
of UTNAA-Atlanta explains that "we feel that a good website can
be a powerful tool to market the chapter to new relocates to the
city and established alums looking for current news and a way to
find old friends. The website is also great way to establish an
ever greater presence of Tennessee fans in a city dominated by Yellow
Jackets and Dogs." Randy is a financial planner in Atlanta and baseball
letterman from Tennessee's class of '94.
"The website will provide a way for our Atlanta area
UT alumni to remain connected to their alma mater. It will also
make available for them the current information regarding local
UT alumni events and gatherings" said Philip Bonfiglio, Vice President
of the chapter.
The website features various links to information
regarding local tailgate events, athletic news and UTNAA-Atlanta
chapter events. The highlight of the website is a "Resumes" link
at which UT graduates seeking employment can upload their resume
for all prospective employers to see.
YOUNG ALUMNI GATHERINGS GROWING STRONGER BY THE MONTH
The UTNAA-Atlanta chapter has an exceptionally large
presence of alumni that have graduated from the University within
the past 10 years. The Atlanta chapter has designated this group
“The Young Alumni Association” and is seeing amazing
participation at recent events.
The most recent gathering at Buckhead’s Rio Grande restaurant
had an attendance of over 75 people. “I was so excited to
see so many people show up. Two years ago maybe 15 people would
attend events so this was a real success” said Board member
Leslie Boyle. “Coming to Young Alumni chapter events is also
a great way to make friends or catch up with old ones, especially
when you’re new to town.” The Young Alumni have also
mingled at various functions with Auburn’s local young alumni
chapter. “Auburn always brings a large, energetic crowd so
it’s fun to host events together” said Boyle.
The event at the Rio Grand is how former friends Lindsay Landrum,
Board member, and Rebecca Burnos, former Graduate Assistant Webmaster
of UTsports.com, we able to reestablish their friendship and start
the idea for a new chapter website. Rebecca worked with Randall,
Lindsay and Leslie to bring the new design ideas for both the UTNAA-Atlanta
and UTNAA – Atlanta Young Alumni websites to fruition.
“The idea was to co-brand the sites so that users could tell
they were two distinct sites but for the same organization”
said Rebecca.
Other UTNAA chapters can contact Rebecca directly for website design
work or site maintenance and ideas by clicking “Contact
the Webmaster.” Any Atlanta-area Tennessee graduates can
